Water Calculations

Average weight of Caucasian woman at age fifteen: 125 pounds

http://www.halls.md/chart/women-weight-w.htm

Average amount of water lost per day in heat with some activity: 10 cups or 2.365 liters

Average amount taken from food per day: 4 cups (0.9463 leters); but we are supposing there are minimal food sources so we’ll say that only 2 cups (.4731 liters) are taken in from food (as shown in our journal we ate some berries and what not)

So the minimum amount of water to replace what has been lost and thus not become dehydrated in a very hot climate with activity is 8 cups which is two quarts and 1.8927 liters

There is enough water for 8 people for 14 days:

However, the group on the boat took three quarters of the water:

So the three of us on the island have 224 cups/ about 53 Leters of water

There is enough water to last our group 9 and one third days
